Ramana Maharshi was born 30 December 1879 in Tiruchuzhi, Tamil Nadu, India. Originally named Venkataraman Iyer, he experienced a profound awakening at age sixteen, which led him to the sacred hill Arunachala in Tiruvannamalai. There he lived as a revered sage, teaching the direct path of Self‑enquiry (Atma Vichara) and inspiring seekers worldwide until his passing on 14 April 1950
