Guru Nanak (1469–1539), founder of Sikhism, advocated equality, truthful living, and devotion to one universal Creator. His teachings—
“Truth is the highest virtue, but higher still is truthful living”—champion justice and compassion.
“There is no Hindu, there is no Muslim — all are children of the One.” (shame that the 10th Guru added a third religion when Guru Nanak intended to bring the Muslims and Hindus together.)
“Speak only that which brings you honour.”
“Truth is the highest virtue, but higher still is truthful living.”
“He who has no faith in himself can never have faith in God.”
“Recognize the Lord’s light within all, and do not consider social class or status.”
