What we think of ourselves is just ego or a mental projection, it’s not the truth.

Truth is not the ego

According to Carl Jung the psychologist, founder of Jungian theory, the ego is knowledge of the ego-personality and is often confused with self-understanding. Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi points out that the ego depends on what country you you live in, where in that society you are placed, what your parents, school and society have had you believe, so we can see that the ego is just a ‘mental projection’ of all these factors. Shri Mataji however has said that, before knowing the truth, if you depend on your intelligence, you can be misled completely. Intelligence that is without the spiritual insight is your own ego. After Realization, the truth that comes to you is the real, pure truth and is not your ego.
